SVASE OPEN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:

SVASE is organized under a group of volunteer Program Chairs who coordinate the efforts of other supporters. The best way to get involved right now is to contact the Program Chair in the area that interests you - see below.

CHAIR POSITIONS (require 2-4 hours of volunteer time/Week):

BIG (Business Interface Group) PROGRAM CO-CHAIRS. We are looking for FOUR PROGRAM CO-CHAIRS for this new program, which will explore the commercial opportunities for emerging technologies. Application areas BIGs will focus on Mobility, Media & Information, Edutainment and more. Co-Chairs will be responsible for recruiting Speakers for marketing each event. The time commitment is 2-4 hours PER WEEK PER CHAIR, organization and follow-through a must. Benefits: Free SVASE membership, high visibility, and measurable results. Preference given to experienced event organizers from SVASE or other event oriented organizations. Send an email describing your interest to Chris Gill.

TEAM POSITIONS (require 2-3 hours of volunteer time/Week):

FIRST IMPRESSIONS - STARTUP QUALIFIER: First Impressions provides the opportunity for SVASE members to pitch their business to an invited audience of VCs, Angels, subject matter experts and successful serial Entrepreneurs. The role of the Startup Qualifier will be to attend appropriate events organized by SVASE and some of the other entrepreneur support organizations, to identify companies that could benefit from this program. Benefits for the Startup Qualifier will be discounted SVASE membership plus complementary attendance at all SVASE events, including First Impressions. Contact chad.salinas@najdorf.com

EVENT VOLUNTEERS: Dress up, get out and meet people by being an event volunteer! Positions available in Registration, Meeting & Greeting, A/V Setup and more, in Silicon Valley, the East Bay and beyond. Commitment: requires 6 month commitment to the organization, you can work 1-3 events per month. Reliability, Courtesy and Enthusiasm are key qualifications; you MUST show up at events for which you are confirmed. Contact: Mike Harris.
MEMBERSHIP OUTREACH – CORPORATE CHAMPIONS PROGRAM: Do you belong to a major Corporation, Organization or Association? Are you looking for ways to get noticed, and to extend your knowledge and network inside and outside your company? Then why not become as SVASE Corporate Champion, giving you the opportunity to meet senior management and others inside your company, plus learn about entrepreneurship and network with SVASE members and Guest Speakers. AFFILIATE COORDINATOR:
SVASE affiliates with other nonprofits to promote each other’s events and give each other discounts. If you like to network and be known in the community, this volunteer job’s for you! Sign up new affiliates, attend events, and make sure the word is getting out about SVASE. MARKETING DIRECTOR – VC BREAKFAST CLUB:  Spend 2 hours/week helping us to inform Bay Area Entrepreneurs about the upcoming VC Breakfast Club meetings.  Responsibilities include weekly and monthly postings on SVASE website, Acteva and affiliate organizations’ websites and weekly newsletters to our VCBC database. Free attendance to the breakfast meetings and visibility to the venture community are included with this position. Requirements: attention to detail, dependability, email and web knowledgeable, high speed Internet access. Contact:  Jai Kumar, jai@vigyana.com.

STARTUP U SAN FRANCISCO:  The StartUp-U team is looking for a dynamic, enterprising, and energetic volunteer to assist in helping to run the StartUp-U San Francisco events. These monthly networking events attract 25-50 entrepreneurs, service providers, and venture capitalists for a discussion on a wide variety of topics relevant to first time entrepreneurs. Responsibilities include periodically leading the group’s discussion, promoting SVASE to potential members, and possibly assist in recruiting panel members. Creativity, initiative and a strong motivation to build a community are critical in this visible role. These lunchtime events are currently held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at DLA Piper in San Francisco. Timeframe: 6-12 month commitment.
